The tour begins!
Yes – it’s finally here – the 2012 Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour starts tonight! And we couldn’t be more excited. After months of rehearsals and workshops, last night our intrepid tour guides Narcissa (Petra Elliott), Dave (Dave Lamb), Vic (Nadia Collins) and host Ben McKenzie roamed through the dark and empty space of the museum after hours to put the final polish on their presentations for the public.
Will it be a smooth ride? Will there be personality clashes and mayhem? There’s only one way to find out – see you on this year’s Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour!
- Dave (Dave Lamb) practises his laser pointer skills for the tour.
- Narcissa (Petra Elliott) shows off her tour guide pose.
New recruit: Nadia Collins
As we head towards the start of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Museum Comedy tour guides are working hard to develop the very best tour. And this year, that’s meant bringing on an extra pair of hands and an extra comedy brain, in the form of improviser and comedian Nadia Collins! Nadia, who regularly performs with The Big Hoo-Haa and has also been a guest in Dungeon Crawl, joins Dave Lamb, Petra Elliott and Museum Comedy founder Ben McKenzie for this year’s tour. I’d love to tell you more – but I couldn’t possibly give away any spoilers! Let’s just say this year won’t be quite like the last four…
Remember that Museum Comedy tours are now on sale; click on book tickets in the menu above to get started. Tickets will also be available at the door, but only if a particular night hasn’t sold out in advance, so get your tickets now to make sure you don’t miss out!
Photos allowed
Last week, the Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour cast for 2012 went into the museum early in the morning to take some publicity photos with our regular photographer, Robert Young. You can see how our photos turned out on the new Images page; Robert as usual has done an amazing job. Check out some of Robert’s other photos, plus his commentary on these and some of his Dungeon Crawl photos, at his web site, R W Young Images.
But hey, you can see the publicity photos everywhere – that’s what they’re for! So, as a bonus for visiting our site, here are some exclusive behind the scenes photographs from our photo shoot and our explorations of Melbourne Museum:

Coming back for 2012!
Museum Comedy is back for 2012 – like you’ve never seen it before!
We’ve been putting laughter into museums for five years, and to celebrate we’ve scoured the world for the most eccentric, charming, awkward and creepy experts we could find.
Join science comedian Ben McKenzie (Dungeon Crawl, Political Asylum, “one of Melbourne’s kings of geek comedy” – Chortle AU), Shakespearean actor Dave Lamb (Bell Shakespeare, The Bazura Project) and singer, actress and puppeteer Petra Elliott (Inside Out – La Mama) as they bring to life a collection of tour guides you won’t meet anywhere else.
Book early. This collection won’t last.
Tickets now on sale via the Book Tickets link above!
